Project Homeless Connect (PHC) is an annual event, that happens nationally, in communities to assist homeless, doubled up, and low income individuals.
The College Health Corps VISTA at Growing Up Healthy, Jenny Fink, partnered with the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM) to hold a free workshop in Northfield for undocumented young people interested in applying for Deferred Action, a federal program which allows undocumented folks between the ages of 16-30 who are in good academic and legal standing to apply for work permits.
Sapphire Consulting Group at the U of M Partners with Neighborhood HealthSource to Provide Strategic Planning Consultation
Neighborhood HealthSource (NHS) began working with the Sapphire Consulting Group at the University of Minnesota, to receive consultation on various financial and strategic planning projects for NHS clinics.

Metropolitan State University’s Maplewood Dental Clinic, opened in January of this year, increases access to oral health care for underserved communities through Metro State’s innovative dental therapy program.
The Metropolitan State University Dental Clinic which opened its doors to patients on January 25, 2012. This clinic supports Masters of Science students for the first program in the nation, Advanced Dental Therapy, aimed to increase access to oral health care within rural and under served communities.
Neighborhood HealthSource’s College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA, Jamie Bachaus, is supporting a project focused on addressing the low rates of mammograms and referral follow-through (49% at the end of 2009) among NHS’ patients population; 87% of whom are uninsured or on publicly funded insurance programs.
This fall, MN Internship Center’s Minnesota Campus Compact College Health Corps VISTA, Rachel Zucker, successfully launched the Health Advocate program at three of MNIC’s four high school locations.

The Rochester Adult and Family Literacy Program at Hawthorne Education Center serves 2,500-3,000 adult learners per year who have skill levels below post-secondary and are immigrants, refugees and under-educated adults.
On July 14 and 15, a group of nine newly inducted AmeriCorps VISTAs congregated at Augsburg College for their very first training as members of the College Health Corps VISTA cohort.

Growing Up Healthy is a community health coalition consisting of community organizations throughout Rice County and teams of neighborhood leaders from three of the marginalized communities in the county.
“Grim reality…became a public tragedy when 12-year old Deamonte Diverer died of a toothache. His mother had no insurance, and she couldn’t find a Medicaid dentist. What could have been an $80 tooth extraction that might have saved her son’s life became a fatal brain infection from his abscessed tooth. Added to this profound loss was the cost of his care, which totaled more that $250,000.” Journal of American Academy of Physicians Assistants (June 2009)
The Health Ambassador Program (HAP) is a youth leadership development after school program run through the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview that teaches targeted youth in Minneapolis about the top teen health issues and most prevalent issues they see within their communities.
“Each site stresses community building as a core aspect of its programming, providing service-learners exciting project opportunities.
The Minnesota Campus Compact is currently compiling fact sheets that feature the various ways in which campus-community partnerships are being leveraged in the state of Minnesota to address the issues that our communities face. Most recently, they published their Community Health Issues Sheet (available for viewing on their blog, “Campus in Community”) which highlights many of the partnerships and initiatives that have arisen through the efforts of the College Health Corps.
