New Member: Bethany Lutheran College
MINNEAPOLIS, MN: Today, Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact announced the Bethany Lutheran College as the newest member of its two-state coalition of 58 colleges and universities. This coalition represents presidents from every sector of higher education. Members are committed to the public purpose of higher education, including civic engagement and service-learning opportunities that engage students and impact communities.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bethany Lutheran College to our network,” said Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact Executive Director Emily Shields. “The strong values and community-driven approach will be a great asset to our work.”
Bethany Lutheran College is the second new member of the organization this year; the College of St. Scholastica also recently announced their decision to join. Bethany Lutheran College is a Christian liberal arts college owned and operated by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. The fifty-acre campus overlooks the Minnesota River Valley in Mankato, Minnesota, a community of approximately fifty thousand people. The institution’s mission to educate students for meaningful lives of service aligns with the Campus Compact mission.
Bethany President Gene Pfeifer noted, “We’re pleased to partner with Campus Compact. Bethany’s mission is centered on lives of service for its graduates, which aligns well with the Compact’s vision to create opportunities for students to pursue an education that prepares them for personal, civic, and professional success.”
Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact strengthens the capacity of colleges and universities to fulfill the public purposes of higher education through its network of 57 campuses. This includes educating students through community and civic learning experiences and making an impact in communities through reciprocal partnerships that address community-identified goals. IAMNCC creates partnership opportunities, supports quality programming through professional development, and promotes the importance of the civic mission.
