Minnesota Campus Compact Announces New Executive Director

February 18, 2021 – Minneapolis MN  The Minnesota Campus Compact is proud to announce and welcome Mr. Rob Barron as Executive Director.  Campus Compact advances the public purpose of colleges and universities by deepening their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility. Rob will also serve as Executive Director of Iowa Campus Compact.  Minnesota and Iowa Campus Compact recently announced a three-year strategic alliance between the two organizations.  The goal of the alliance is to become a regional compact. One of Rob’s goals will be to continue along the path of a merger of the two states into a regional compact.

Rob was previously Special Assistant to the President of Grand View University in Des Moines for Government and Community Relations. He has a solid background in community, climate, and political engagement in addition to serving on the Des Moines School Board. Rob serves on the boards of United Way of Central Iowa, the Mid-Iowa Health Foundation, and Al Éxito.  Prior to joining Grand View, Rob worked for an organization devoted to clean energy and spent 13 years working for Iowa US Senator Tom Harkin.

Rob brings to Minnesota Campus Compact many years of experience and is a regionally recognized leader in community engagement. He has deep expertise in leading student advocacy programs as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives.  He is involved in the Latino community and has led successful efforts in neighborhood revitalization.

Rob has his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Grinnell College.
