Community Engagement Network Gathering

February 23 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Register Here

Join colleagues with significant responsibility and leadership in civic and community engagement for an interactive day focused on key issues in our day-to-day work and larger context.

In the morning, we will delve into the core competencies of community engagement professionals in higher education. We’ll explore Lina Dostilio’s 2017 preliminary competency model as a tool for articulating the specific constellation of knowledge, skills, dispositions, and comitments that make community engagement leaders effective. We’ll individually map areas of expertise and growth, then dive into deeper conversation about key domains of practice, exchanging tips and strategies as we go.

After lunch, we’ll consider the value proposition for civic and community engagement in higher education today. We’ll share work emerging from the Minnesota Campus Compact communications task force, discuss how to tailor message to different stakeholder groups, look at ways to help students name the value of their engagement experiences, and gather input on how to further this work in the ways most useful to you.

With questions, contact Sinda Nichols at sinda {at} mncampuscompact(.)org or 612-436-2080.
